What is already known about this topic? •A white paper from the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) presented a care goals model for people with dementia covering changes of the goals of life prolongation; maintenance of functioning and maximisation of comfort towards death. •Advance care planning discussions have gained momentum also for dementia, and recent Western and Asian studies indicated the relevance of psycho-social and spiritual care goals in addition to physical care goals.
