No one feuds quite as well as a celebrity woman. Don’t believe the sickly sweet farce between Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, ego, bright lights and competition for stage time have always provoked infighting. But while leading ladies used to duke it out Bette Davis and Joan Crawford style, today’s celebrity duels are a lot nastier. Over the weekend, Patti LuPone did something unheard of – she apologized. Or, at least, she released an apologetic statement.

Sure Start - Blair's early years project and pride and joy of Labour - could be returning to a children's centre near you. According to the government-backed child poverty taskforce, the early-years service might be making a necessary comeback, albeit if the government can find the "huge investment to do it". Kick-starting in the early 2000s, Sure Start was sold as government support for needy families - childcare services targeting those on the lowest rung of the economic ladder.

Screenwriter Dalton Trumbo fell victim to this vicious whispering campaign, he was blacklisted by Hollywood and only given full credit for his work after his death. Today, witch hunts happen on Twitter – with the speed and ferocity of lightning.
