The opening of the Boy's Club (Image: Warrington Museum) IT has had many names in Warrington. But 75 years ago marked one of the highlights of a Warrington institution. In March 1950, crowds gathered to see HRH Princess Margaret visit Warrington to open the Warrington Boy's Club in Rodney Street. Originally formed in 1930 as an after-school club by a group of concerned parents, in 1935 the Warrington Boy's Club joined the Boy's Club network.

Sammy Dean left her career selling houses to chase her dream of being a DJ after working on her craft for years as a hobby. The 51-year-old played Glastonbury for the first time last year and has been steadily playing more gigs. This includes a gig at Eden, one of the biggest nightclubs in San Antonio Bay in Ibiza – which she used to work at in 2002. Sammy first went over as a resident DJ for another night club, but when that ‘flopped’ she got a job putting up posters at Eden.

Warrington Borough Council and Warrington’ Own Buses have been recognised at this year’s Chartered Institute of Highways and Transport (CIHT) Awards. At the awards ceremony on Wednesday, it received the Bus Centre of Excellence Bus Initiative of the Year Award. The CIHT award win recognises the council’s investment in its bus services and the improvements that have been made – including capping bus fares for passengers.

And the children and staff at Cromdale Way Pre-School are loving the new look. The space was opened recently and was made possible thanks to financial support from Great Sankey Parish Council, which partnered with the pre-school every step of the way. A spokesman said: "Together, we brainstormed ideas, expressed our goals, and worked collaboratively to bring this vision to life.

Staff and students from the University of Chester are partnering with a variety of organisations to offer free activities as part of Warrington Pride 2025 celebrations. From talks, to arts and crafts creating flags and zine making, a range of activities will be available at the University’s Time Square building on June 14. Events will run from 9.30am until 5pm, with the first talk on inclusive smear testing at 1.30pm.
