A POPULAR tourist attraction in Donegal has has issued a new update after a major fire destroyed half of the property and forced it to close for the foreseeable. Fire crews rushed to the scene of a large fire at Doagh Famine Village in Ballyliffin, Co Donegal on Saturday afternoon. The attraction saw recreations of buildings from the famine times in Ireland and told the history of the time to tourists.

ONE lucky Irish punter has become the country's latest half-a-millionaire tonight after nabbing the Euromillions Plus top prize. In total, over 42,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and Plus games tonight. While there was no winner of the overall €97m jackpot, one Irish player is bringing home a nice lump sum. The National Lottery has revealed the county where the ticket was purchased. Lotto bosses have confirmed that the €500,000 winning ticket was sold in Meath.

GARDAI are asking for the public's help in locating a missing man as his family become "concerned for his well-being". Mark Smith, 44, was reported missing from his home in Oldcastle, Co Meath earlier today, May 2. Mark is described as being around 5 ft 7 inches in height. He is of a slim build, is bald and has blue eyes. He was last seen shortly before 9am this morning. Mark was wearing green running shorts, grey loose fitting T-shirt and blue runners.

JUST under 400 Irish parents are set to see some weekly social welfare payments end this year due to a rule surrounding their child's age. But Minister for Social Protection Dara Calleary has said that plans are in place for hundreds of families to now be eligible for a €8,400 annual payment. The One-Parent Family Payment and the Half-rate Carer's Allowance are both set to end this year for 390 people.
