A SMALL community in Co Leitrim is in "complete shock" following the tragic death of a local teenager in a tractor crash yesterday. The 18-year-old, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash, has been named locally as Dessie O'Kelly. Dessie was a passenger on the tractor when it crashed on the R204 at Aghavilla in Carrigallen,Co Leitrimat around 3.10pm yesterday.

LOCALS in a small Irish town were forced to evacuate their homes after an explosive device was discovered last night. Gardai were alerted to a report at around 10pm that a potential Explosive Device has been found on the main street in Hacketstown, Co Carlow. In order of maintaining public safety, the area was cordoned off and a number of homes were evacuated. The incident saw the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from the Defence Forces also attending.

PARTS of Ireland have woken up to snow pouring down this morning - despite other areas only seeing sun. There have been reports this morning that snow has fallen in parts of Wicklow and Wexford as temperatures plummeted to as low as -2C in some areas. Snow could be seen in videos across social media, with Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather sharing one from North Wexford. He said: "A few reports of snow falling in Wicklow and Wexford now.

AN IRISHMAN has died after getting into difficulty while swimming in Malta. The 76-year-old man reportedly got into difficulty at a popular holiday spot in the seaside town of St Julian's. He had been swimming near the Cavalieri Hotel, in St Julian’s Bay, when he got into difficulty. Local reports claim police rushed to the area at around 12.45pm yesterday afternoon. A statement from local police confirmed the man was a 76-year-old Irish native.

MOTORISTS are being warned over "slippery" conditions on Irish roads this morning as the country is blasted by heavy rain. It comes after a crash on Dublin's M50 motorway earlier this morning following an overnight rain alert. A Status Yellow rain warning is in place for Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Meath and Louth until 2pm. The collision occurred between Junction 5 Finglas and Junction 6 Blanchardstown on the M50 southbound this morning.
