More than 2,500 universities from across the world have submitted data to Times Higher Education to participate in the Impact Rankings 2025. The new milestone represents a year-on-year increase of 18 per cent, after more than 2,000 institutions were ranked for the first time in 2024. Asia is now home to more than half of the submissions to the rankings, after 1,311 institutions from the continent took part this year, a 25 per cent increase compared with last year.

The data portal for the next Times Higher Education World University Rankings and Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) is now open, with institutions from across the world invited to take part. Universities can now submit data to be included in the two league tables, both of which will be published in autumn 2025. The portal will be open for more than two months, closing on 30 March.

When Times Higher Education launched the Arab University Rankings three years ago, universities in the prosperous Gulf states were the leading lights. But this year, institutions outside that region are showing strong signs of progress, proving that they can shine just as brightly as many Saudi and Emirati counterparts, despite facing tough economic, social and political challenges.
