The old site of a notorious Coventry children's home can be sold for development. Councillors agreed to put the former Wisteria Lodge site in Earlsdon on the market this week. It means new homes could be built on land that has been empty since the home was demolished in 2010. Shareholder committee members made the decision due to the site being part of the nearby War Memorial Park.

A Coventry estate that hundreds of people once called home is now a demolition site. Plans to bulldoze three buildings from the 1960s in Spon End for more than 200 new flats took a step forward this week. Workers have started removing fixtures and fittings from the 158 homes in Kerry, Milestone and Trafalgar Houses. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) had a look around on Tuesday, 15 April. Much has changed on the estate since plans for its regeneration were revealed six years ago.

It came after hundreds of residents signed petitions objecting to the plans fearing a loss of footfall, staff and books. And at yesterday's meeting an opposition councillor claimed it will mean people cannot access the services.

Plans for a business park by the M6 at Exhall will go to Coventry councillors for a decision next week. New warehouse and office buildings are set to go on fields between the A444 and Pickards Way following an appeal decision two years ago. Council officials say final scheme details known as 'reserved matters' lodged last autumn should be approved. But residents have objected to the in-depth proposals meaning these will be decided on at planning committee next week, 17 April.
