Banijay has chosen a winner from the USA for the second iteration of its women-focused accelerator programme, Banijay LaunchThe programme, which launched in Mipcom 2023, is designed to support women creators to devise unscripted formats, with the aim of the winning ideas eventually landing on screen. Tai Hanson-Shin beat five international candidates in a pitching competition in Paris yesterday (18 June), with her winning idea: a social reality concept called The Exchange.

The BBC has confirmed that Kate Phillips will take over as chief content officer. Phillips has held the UK broadcaster’s top editorial post on an interim basis since March, when Charlotte Moore announced her departure for Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television (SPT). She will inherit a vast remit with responsibility for all network TV and radio output, all channels and iPlayer, BBC Film, Sounds, Children’s and Education content, and Sport.
