The Owen Park playground was built roughly 30 years ago and the Mt. Simon Park playground was built 25 years ago and now, both are due for much-needed replacement.

CHIPPEWA FALLS (WQOW) - A group of Chippewa Falls High School students are one step closer to realizing their goal of adding a solar array to Camp Nawakwa. The high school's Green Team is comprised of three juniors and since the fall, they've been working to secure a 40-plus solar panel array for the nonprofit camp. On Saturday, they accomplished their goal at Solstock, an environmental storytelling festival in Deerfield, WI.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - On this edition of "You Ask, We Answer," Mark asked why portions of the Chippewa River State Trail are closing. That answer is construction. According to a City Manager's Update, the City of Eau Claire is closing down the trail between the tennis courts and the bandshell in Owen Park from now until Friday, June 13 for reconstruction. Then, starting on Monday, June until July 7, the trail will be closed from Short Street to the Clairemont Avenue Bridge.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - In the coming months, 93-acres of city grass will be cleared and replaced with native plants, however, the use of herbicide has raised community concern. The City of Eau Claire's Sustainability Advisory Committee, held a special meeting on Wednesday, and the usage of the chemical glyphosate, found commercially in Roundup, was the center of attention.

MENOMONIE (WQOW) - It's been almost 6 months since the Dunn County Law Enforcement community lost two of their own, and this weekend, a benefit fundraiser is planned for the officers' families. In December of 2024, Menomonie Police Officer Sam Miller died by suicide and Dunn County Correctional Officer Jeff Reynolds was killed in a car crash.
