A driver who tested positive for cocaine attempted to flee marked police cars - in reverse. The silver Mini Cooper was spotted by officers while travelling over the Tamar Bridge. According to Devon and Cornwall Police's No Excuse Twitter account the motorist began travelling "at speed" while crossing the bridge towards Saltash. They then attempted to evade officers by ducking down a side street.

The A4 in Chippenham has been closed following a serious crash. The collision happened at the Gladstone Road and Avenue La Flèche junction sometime before 6pm, leading to both roads being closed. It's unclear at this time how many vehicles are involved or if anyone has been injured. Wiltshire Police have advised motorists seek an alternative route while the incident is ongoing. More than 250 drug drivers have been arrested in Torbay this year, according to police. The staggering figure was revealed by Devon and Cornwall Police's No Excuse Twitter page. A post was published after three arrests were made for drug driving this evening alone (Sunday, December 17). The post showed a positive drug test for cannabis and cocaine. The caption read: "Another three drivers in custody this evening for drug driving in Torbay.

Police are appealing for information to help find two teenage girls who have gone missing from Gloucester. Briyanna, aged 15, and Elizabeth, aged 14, were last seen leaving an address in Coney Hill Road at around 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday, December 16). They phoned a family member at around 9pm last night but have not made contact since. Officers believe the two girls are together and may have travelled to the Enfield area of London via Cheltenham.

A police cordon has been erected in the Devon village of Politmore. At around 3.50pm, police were contacted by two locals after they found what they believed to be a "live grenade". The object was found on Horn Hill. A force incident manager for Devon and Cornwall Police said it was unknown whether the device was live or confirmed it is grenade. They said the Royal Navy explosive ordnance disposal team had been liaising with officers. This incident remains ongoing. This is a live blog.
