The future of troubled Esoteric Festival in country Victoria is uncertain unless someone volunteers to buy its parent business, along with millions of dollars of debt. The multi-day electronic music, arts and lifestyle event, outside tiny Wimmera town Donald, about 290 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, was cancelled in March this year the day before it was to start.

Clients of a major aged and disability care service that is set to close next month say they have not been told who will be taking its place. Annecto Incorporated supports more than 4,400 clients across 19 locations in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. The charity announced on Wednesday it would be closing before the end of July due to "financial challenges". Mildura resident Anne Berry said the charity had not contacted her or her husband Denis.

An aged care and disability support service with thousands of clients has announced it will close in July. Annecto Incorporated operates in 19 locations in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory. It has branches in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Mildura, Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, Mornington, Dubbo and Kempsey. In a statement released on Wednesday the charity said the decision was made due to "financial challenges".

Police have closed the Western Highway at Kiata in western Victoria after the discovery of a body. Victoria Police said in a statement a passer-by found human remains on the highway just after 8am on Friday. Police said the cause of death was yet to be determined but it was being treated as a possible hit and run. The body is yet to be formally identified. The highway will remain closed in both directions while police investigate.

Joe Koumera, a participant in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme, died while in regional Australia. His family on an island in Vanuatu has not been contacted by Australian authorities and wants information about his death and police investigation. Mr Koumer's death is still under investigation and his family is longing for answers.
