Halloween marks a time of year filled with yellow leaves, morning frost, pumpkin-spiced everything, spooky décor, dressing up, and a heck of a lot of play time!Growing up, Halloween was always a wonderful experience. It was the holiday that I always looked forward to and one I continue to look back on with the fondest of memories.

Beach days are the best. There is something so utterly magical about waking up on the morning of a day you are planning to spend at the beach. Knowing that you’ll soon feel the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair, the sun on your face and the refreshment of cool water (okay, cold water) splashing all around you. It brings a true sense of peace—at least for me and I am sure that I am not alone.

My child has a wondrous imagination. He has always been a creative kid who loves to make things—constantly. Whether it’s making figures out of Play-Doh, building with Lego with his dad, or creating colourful drawings to decorate our fridge, his imagination has helped him develop things from games to stories to songs. A ‘froggie’ birthday cake seemed to be in order — he just adores frogs right now. Now, to be upfront, I’m no Cake Boss.

Children have a lot of energy. It’s true. And as a parent of a little boy who is about to turn four, I am constantly looking for new ways to help him exert that energy and exercise his growing body in fun and engaging ways. Enter soccer. In the past I have seen those adorable pictures of young children playing soccer in their colourful Timbit jerseys. And I always thought that one day, when I had children of my own, I would love to get them involved in something like that.
