El 6 de diciembre, la Policía griega intervino violentamente en protestas pacíficas en Tesalonica para conmemorar el aniversario de la muerte de Alexandros Grigoropoulos, muchacho de 15 años que murió por un disparo de la Policía en Atenas ese día en 2008. La intervención llevó al arresto de 112 personas, predominantemente adultos jóvenes y adolescentes.
