TAMPA, Fla. — A Hillsborough County judge said on Thursday in a court ruling that South Florida-based MV Realty violated an injunction that would help clear property titles of those who signed up for the company’s Homeowner Benefit Program. In February, Judge Darren Farfante ruled the company can no longer enforce Homeowner Benefit Agreements, which paid up to several thousand dollars in cash if homeowners signed over exclusive listing rights.

TAMPA, Fla. — State attorneys in Hillsborough County have decided they will not file charges against a former GOP treasurer who was arrested and accused of stealing more than $14,000 from his own party. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Patrick Bailey in December. Deputies said Bailey had written checks to himself and transferred money from the Hillsborough County Republican Party to his own account. Investigators recommended grand theft and false entry charges.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida legislators are expected to hear a bill this session that addresses land access when erased or abandoned cemeteries are on private property. House Minority Leader Fentrice Driskell filed HB 1577 on Friday. The bill calls for the state to have an easement on properties where credible evidence suggests a cemetery.
