On Thursday's Austin City Council agenda is a resolution that aims to protect student health by regulating the sale of vapes and similar products near schools. The resolution is being brought before the council by Council Member Krista Laine. Laine said many vape shops are popping up in spots that are right where students walk to and from school, and sometimes within 100 feet from a school property boundary.

With the tap of a screen, anyone can download an app on their phone to fit their lifestyle. There are over a million apps on Google Play and a similar number on the Apple App Store. Many of these apps are available to anyone under 18. "Minors currently navigate the expansive digital world completely without guardrails," said Texas Senator Angela Paxton of McKinney. Senate Bill 2420, or the App Store Accountability Act, aims to change the way minors download apps.

If you've ever had a close encounter with a big rig on the highway, a bill making its way through the Texas Legislature could significantly impact lawsuits stemming from crashes involving those trucks. Senate Bill 39, a priority for Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, clarifies the civil liability of commercial motor vehicle owners or operators. "There's no reason for this legislation. Senate Bill 39 contains no safety reforms at all," said Ware Wendell, Executive Director for Texas Watch.

The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force needs your help in locating 41-year-old Kevin Michael Waguespack. According to officials, Waguespack is wanted for the murder of his girlfriend Catherine Dyer in their North Austin residence on November 16, 2015. "We'd like to bring some type of closure to this victim's family, as well as bring this individual to justice here in Travis County," said Brandon Filla, Deputy U.S. Marshal Austin.

One community on the eastside of Buchanan Dam spent Friday morning cleaning up after damaging hail and rain struck Burnet County Thursday evening. "We've never had this much hail. This is the biggest hailstorm we've seen out here," said Larry Atkinson, a Burnet County resident. Broken windows, damaged roofs, and broken trees was the scene in Atkinson neighborhood. Atkinson said when the storm first started his wife thought it was a tornado and is grateful it wasn't.
