It’s 1:16am and I can’t sleep. It slowly dawns on me that today is the one-year anniversary of when I became seriously ill, on my own, on the other side of the world. I wouldn’t usually recommend indulging such thoughts in the early hours of the morning, for fear of unhelpful spiralling. But it feels like my body is keeping me awake to make a point. So I follow it with curiosity.
