This summer, 60 individual athletes from 20 different countries will compete at the CrossFit Games in Albany, NY. Both the men’s and women’s divisions will feature athletes from 13 different countries, with the United States boasting the largest representation, comprising 13 men and 11 women slated to compete. Australia has the next largest contingent with eight athletes, while the UK qualified five, Canada four, Brazil three, and Switzerland two.

This season’s 12 CrossFit Games qualifying events are finally complete, and we now know the 30 men and 30 women heading to Albany. That said, things look a lot different than we’re accustomed to seeing. Between injuries, retirements, athletes choosing to forego the CrossFit Games season, or simply failing to qualify, there are a fair number of household names who will be absent from the lineup this August.

In the early days, the CrossFit journey looked a lot like this:You discover CrossFit, quickly start drinking the Kool-Aid, and then you sign up for the CrossFit Level 1 seminar, led by CrossFit founder Greg Glassman. In the days before 2010, taking your CrossFit Level 1 wasn’t necessarily associated with becoming a CrossFit Level 1 coach. It was more of a rite of passage for the average CrossFit enthusiast who wanted to further entrench themselves in the community.

The Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) — the 12th and final qualification event for the 2025 CrossFit Games — occurred over the weekend. It featured an online competition in which athletes completed five workouts for a chance to earn the final men’s and women’s invites to the Games in Albany, NY, this summer. The result: Jonne Koski topped the leaderboard for the men. Lydia Fish snagged the top women’s spot.

On Sunday, June 8, Alex Gazan celebrated her fourth CrossFit Games qualification following her win at the Northern California Classic In-Person Qualifying Event in Sacramento, CA. Two days later, she felt lucky to be alive and wondered whether she could compete at the August Games. On June 10, Gazan and her husband were involved in a serious car accident during a road trip in California.
