At Tuesday’s meeting, the East Hanover Board of Supervisors heard that Zook Rentals, which owns 10669 Jonestown Road, has requested a variance to be able to tear down and replace existing nonconforming uses. Though the lot is zoned low-density residential, it already contains four stand-alone single-bedroom apartments and a four-apartment building.

    On Memorial Day, the City of Lebanon held a rededication for the Veterans’ Memorial Walkway, celebrating the memory of those who have served both locally and nationally. Members of the community, government representatives, veterans, and police gathered for a ribbon cutting, as well as ceremonies honoring the United States and its military.

    The community gathered Thursday afternoon for a ceremony dedicating the Lt. William D. Lebo Post Office Building, newly named for a Lebanon city police officer who fell in the line of duty. Congressman Dan Meuser first introduced bill HR 3865 (renaming the post office the “Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building”) to the U.S. House of Representatives in June 2023, after which it was passed unanimously by the U.S. Senate and was signed by President Joe Biden in May 2024.

Citing safety concerns, the North Lebanon Township Board of Supervisors on Monday unanimously denied a requested waiver of sidewalk requirements for a planned Sheetz at the intersection of State Route 72 and Long Lane. Among other waivers (which were approved) were requests by Sheetz to forego curbing and sidewalks both along Route 72 and Long Lane.

    “I’m the future of agriculture.”Young kids wearing FFA jackets came forward one by one to address a classroom full of local business representatives, politicians, and family to repeat the sentiment. This was just part of a pitch by Eastern Lebanon County School District students and staff asking that the community help to fund or otherwise contribute to a barn for the school’s agriculture program.
