If you haven’t had chili yet this winter, now might be your last chance to make good on this all-time great hearty meal. I’m making this Bourbon Elk Chili from Jackson Hole’s Amangani resort for the Super Bowl because, well, it’s got game—literally, a pound of elk meat. When it comes to dining room inspiration, some folks crave the glamour of a chalet-chic mountain cabin. For others, it’s the California coolness of Big Sur, with timber trestles and vaulted ceilings. Yet, you probably have friends that favor the clean lines and white walls of urban minimalism with a little tofurkey on the side. For me, it’s a casual and classic kind of country space – a dining table where one might carve a (real) turkey at lunch before playing a round of dominoes later that night.

If you’ve ever walked around Inwood Village, chances are you’ve seen Toys Unique, the 40-year-old family-owned children’s toy store bursting with gizmos and gadgets a plenty. In its current location for the past seven years, Toys Unique first opened for business in 1982. Owners Pam and Dean May have weathered the toy business with many pivots and changes and locations during that time—but for this couple, there’s no other way they would have it.
