The American Library Association (ALA) has released its annual report into banned books, and LGBTQ+-themed titles topped the list again. Seven of 10 books banned last year had LGBTQ+ characters, while the top two – All Boys Aren’t Blue, by George M Johnson and Maia Kobabe’s Gender Queer – are memoirs by LGBTQ+ authors which have previously been banned or had their sale restricted in the US.

Former Olympic champion Daley Thompson has entered the Celebrity Big Brother house, alongside LGBTQ+ singer JoJo Siwa, Mickey Rourke and Drag Race star Danny Beard, causing an old controversy about fellow athlete Carl Lewis to resurface. Daley Thompson broke the news that he would be taking part, on Instagram on Monday (7 April), joking that he was a “grumpy father” with a “heart of gold”. He was looking forward to a “bumpy but very happy ride”.

Musicians Lucy Dacus and Katie Gavin have united to recreate a magazine cover from the 90s, thrilling fellow lesbians everywhere. Featured on the April cover of Alternative Press, Dacus and MUNA star Gavin took us back to 1993 with a recreation of k.d. lang and Cindy Crawford’s “risqué” issue of Vanity Fair. The new magazine cover showed boygenius favourite Dacus as Lang, lounging in a barber’s chair, while wearing a suit and tie.
