ST. MARY PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A former bookkeeper for Patterson High School was arrested today in connection with missing school funds totaling over $205,000, according to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office announced that 65-year-old Lisa Ann Crochet Powell, of Morgan City, was arrested around 3 p.m. this afternoon. She faces charges including false accounting, theft of more than $25,000, and malfeasance in office.

CALCASIEU PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested this morning after allegedly threatening to shoot up a middle school, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. The boy, who was not identified by authorities, faces one count of terrorizing-menacing. In a news release, the sheriff’s office said deputies went to Oak Park Middle School around 10:30 a.m. in response to a reported threat.

VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) — The Ville Platte Police Department is asking for help finding a 16-year-old Mamou boy who has been missing since Dec. 7, one week before he was reported missing. In an updated news release, Chief A. Perry Thomas said Dajavon Wilson was reported missing by his family on Saturday, Dec. 14. However, it was later learned that Wilson had actually been missing since Dec. 7 but was not reported missing until a week later, Thomas said.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — It’s the holiday gift that many people (maybe) have been asking for: confirmation that the popular travel center Buc-ee’s will build one of its next locations in Lafayette. In a news release on Friday, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, or LEDA, announced that Buc-ee’s has picked Lafayette for a location and that the company will spend $82 million on the project. Approximately $12.5 million is for public infrastructure.
