When I read about Zoe Ball stepping down from her Radio 2 breakfast show to “focus on family”, it didn’t surprise me a bit. Like many of my female friends and colleagues in our late forties and early fifties, I made a similar decision. Ball turned 54 on Saturday. I was 49 when I left my job as head of talent at a large global entertainment company in 2019. At the time, my daughter was 15 and my twin sons were 13.
