    It may cost nearly $7 million more for a new bikeway project in Mission Valley and the Uptown area, according to the San Diego Association of Governments. SANDAG board members are set to consider on Friday whether to increase the budget for the 3.3-mile plan spanning from Washington Street to San Diego Avenue, Hotel Circle South, Camino de la Reina and Third Avenue in the city of San Diego.

    Residents living near the Tijuana River Valley can now monitor local air quality through a new online dashboard. The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District last week unveiled the tool, which shows hydrogen sulfide readings. Also known as sewer gas, hydrogen sulfide is a colorless gas that smells of rotten eggs and is a byproduct of the high sewage in the river.

    More residential space could be coming to the Otay Ranch Town Center. The Chula Vista Planning Commission unanimously voted during a recent meeting in support of rezoning commercial space to allow for the construction of 840 multifamily units in the northwest corner of the East Chula Vista shopping center. Ten percent of those units will be designated as affordable housing.

    Dozens of new housing units could be coming to Barrio Logan under a proposed project on National Avenue. Developers are seeking a coastal development permit to build a four-story, 73-apartment building that would replace an industrial warehouse at 1864 National Ave. The project would include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, with 11 of them designated as affordable. Leasing space, recreational areas, rooftop amenities and landscaping are also planned for the development.

    Chula Vista homeowners for now will remain limited to just one accessory dwelling unit after city leaders rejected a proposal that would have expanded housing options on single-family properties. Mayor John McCann and council members shot down the proposed policy change in a 4-1 decision last month. The vote came after the Chula Vista Planning Commission also voted against the proposal.
