ASHBURN, VA — A person died in a crash on Route 7 Friday night, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Around 9:45 p.m., sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the eastbound lanes of Route 7 just west of the Loudoun County Parkway interchange. Authorities believe the pedestrian was hit by a Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System vehicle. Scanner reports indicated it was an ambulance.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A policy change to bring more administrator oversight to student publishing at Alexandria City Public Schools is tabled for now after student journalists raised censorship concerns. The proposed policy called for an administrator to review "material that may be controversial" before being approved for publishing. If the administrator and staff editor cannot reach an agreement, the final decision would lie with the school's principal.
