1. IntroductionWith modern advances in technology and research, the body and depth of knowledge in health sciences rapidly expand by the day. As such, new levels of expertise emerge, and naturally, providers trend toward higher degrees of specialization. While beneficial in many ways, this may also cause different arms of healthcare (i.e., medicine and dentistry) to become further siloed into their own fields of practice and the narrowing of a single provider’s own breadth of knowledge.

The plane ride from HK international airport to Jinan Yaoqiang international airport took under 3 hours, and I landed at a small airport with impressive efficiency. Stepping down from the plane to leaving the airport took less than 15 minutes, and I boarded the airport bus to the city center (泉城廣場). The scale of this second-tier city impressed me nevertheless: city center skyscrapers, beautiful fountain parks that sprawled across districts, and spread-out pedestrian paths.

I stayed in the city of Taian for 2 days to visit Taishan, one of the five sacred mountains of China. A lucky pilgrim to visit the mountain in mid-May, I enjoyed the pleasant late spring weather with warm sunshine and fresh breezes in the mountain areas.
