Norah McGuinness Collection 100% Sold in Bonhams Irish Sale

Dublin – A superb collection of 20 works by Norah McGuinness consigned directly from her family was 100% sold in The Irish Sale: Vision & Voice. Works by Mainie Jellett (1897-1944) and Mary Swanzy (1882-1978), who were among Ireland's first abstract painters, also performed well. Swanzy's South of France landscape was the top lot achieving €43,520 more than double its original estimate of €20,000-30,000. The sale made €336,589 in total with 100% sold by value.

London – Bonhams Asian Art Week, which featured five exceptional sales of Chinese and Asian ceramics and works of art, achieved a total of more than £7 million. The top lot was an extremely rare and massive gilt-decorated grisaille and iron-red Dragon rouleau vase, Kangxi that sold for £406,800 in the Fine Chinese Art Sale on Thursday 7 November, more than four times the original estimate of £100,000-200,000.

The sale will also be on view at Bonhams' Dublin Office and Gallery from 27 November - 5 December. Artists include Mainie Jellett (1897-1944), Norah McGuinness (1901-1980) and Mary Swanzy (1882-1978). Both Jellett and Swanzy were among Ireland's first abstract painters.
