John Lewis is holding its first “Preloved Loft” event this weekend (Saturday 7 June) at its Peter Jones store on London's Sloane Square, exclusively for members of its loyalty scheme, My John Lewis. In partnership with luxury reseller Sign of the Times – with which the retailer has previously held pop-ups – it will feature 250 preloved designer products from the likes of Hermes, Prada and Chanel, with prices starting from £350.

Executive pay is top of mind in the fashion retail industry this week. Burberry’s annual report 2024/25 showed it has paid CEO Joshua Schulman £2.6m in salary and bonuses in the nine months since he joined the business. This is despite plans for widespread job cuts as part of a restructuring to unlock an additional £60m of savings, it revealed with its financial results for the year to 29 March on 14 May.

The factory in the Katunayake industrial zone, western Sri Lanka, has been in operation for more than 40 years, according to local reports on 21 May, but is now closing due to high operating costs. “This has been a very difficult decision for the company and has been taken after exploring all alternative options,” David Reay, Next’s director of manufacturing, said in a statement to local news outlets.
