These bins, strategically placed next to the lunch line, are designated spots where students can leave unopened and uneaten food items they don’t want, allowing others who may still be hungry to take what they need.

As the spring season commences, Carlmont students across all grade levels are gearing up for the fast-approaching Advanced Placement (AP) exams. As the calendar inches closer to the upcoming May testing season, Carlmont students dive into preparation mode. From meticulous study schedules to seeking teacher guidance, the journey toward success has commenced. AP tests are standardized exams designed to measure how well students demonstrate an understanding of the material of a specific AP course.

As the Heritage Fair quickly approaches, students come together to display their different cultures, talents, and traditions. The Heritage Fair is an annual assembly that takes place in the gym. This year’s fair is on Friday, March 15. The often dull gymnasium is decorated with colors and vibrant decor from around the world, encouraging students to learn more about different cultures. Various ASB members dress up to make the assembly more fun.

The brass trumpet was cold to the touch as 8-year-old Brian Switzer held it in his hands. It glistened under the light as he created a brassy sound. It was Switzer’s first time playing the instrument and he was instantly hooked. His mother bought him his first trumpet at a garage sale. According to Switzer, the trumpet wasn’t the best, but it could play.

While the stress and pressure of finals and studying pile up on Carlmont students, Spirit Days help take some weight off their shoulders. Review week starts on Monday, Dec. 11, which marks the start of semester exams. Though students have started stressing about finals, they have found joy in participating in Spirit Week. Carlmont’s Associated Student Body (ASB) has planned various themed days that add creativity and excitement to the hallways.
