In October 2022, Jake Edward Fohn was walking through the Clement Street Farmer's Market in San Francisco when he heard someone yell at him that he looked single. Intrigued, he went over to a stand named Loose Grapes, an analog dating experience created by the artist and event producer Valerie Luu in October 2022. Single people would have their photo taken and fill out a questionnaire that asked things like their most memorable meals or what dishes they might bring to a potluck.

On Feb. 16, 2019, Emil Ari Weinstein had a good feeling. He had just seen "Daddy," a new play by Jeremy O. Harris, and was on his way to a dance party hosted by Papi Juice, an art collective in New York that celebrates queer and trans people of color. The performance of the play had gone well and the party was lively, but Mr. Weinstein couldn't stop thinking about his friend, Dr. Alix Esther Masters, who was there with him.

Amber Walker, who runs Amber Walker Events, an event-planning company in Toronto and Los Angeles, says that her business has seen an uptick in clients who are seeking joint proposals.

When KJ Smith and Skyh Black first met on the set of the TV show "Sistas," Covid precautions kept them apart. After exchanging numbers months later, their story extended beyond the screen. In July 2020, KJ Smith, an actress and producer, was excited to get back to Atlanta. Ms. Smith plays Andrea Barnes, one of the lead characters on Tyler Perry's BET comedy-drama, "Sistas," which had pushed back shooting because of the pandemic.
