    “We always talked about having a family dog when our daughter was old enough, and we always knew that would be a rescue dog,” says Angela Walker, 46, a podcast host and producer from Berkshire, who already had a rescue cat in her family so had experience with adopting animals. Walker says she always wanted to adopt, not shop, because she is “aware dogs can be bred with unhealthy traits, and [bought from] puppy farms”, where they are raised in poor, and sometimes negligent, conditions.
