A DeKalb County man has been arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder in connection to a shooting that occurred Saturday night. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), the shooting happened at a business in the 3000 block of Sparta Highway in Smithville. The victim was transported by helicopter to the hospital for continued treatment to his injuries. The investigation, says the TBI, revealed James Barsotti, 40, to be the shooter.

A Hixson property owner who runs the seasonal event venue Hixson Haunted Hollow has been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and felony theft. On Friday, May 9, the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) responded to a call concerning a burglary on Mill Road in Hixson. When they arrived, they spoke with a resident who believed their landlord, William Gilbert, 50, had been stealing tools from their home.
