UPDATE: An East Ridge son has been indicted with felony first degree murder after his father was found dead inside their home. On December 19, 2024, East Ridge Police responded to a call from the 1400 block of Greenslake Road concerning a potential assault. When they arrived, they quickly found Caleb Disterdick, 26, covered in blood but uninjured. He was immediately detained. Inside the home, police say they found Jason "Chris" Disterdick, 52, deceased.

UPDATE: The parents of a student who was arrested for allegedly making mass threats of violence are taking legal action against Hamilton County Schools. In September 2024, a student at Hunter Middle School was arrested after school officials received a QuickTip Alert from another student. The initial investigation revealed that the students told authorities that they overheard him saying he wanted to "blow up the school."The student is listed in the lawsuit as "John Doe" to protect his privacy.

UPDATE: A Collegedale father has been indicted on first-degree murder charges after leaving his infant in a hot car all day, leading to the child's death. A Hamilton County Grand Jury has indicted Timothy Blackdeer on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse and neglect. The child's mother has also been charged with criminally negligent homicide.
