Voting has begun again for the 2024 local government elections and incumbent mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council Tony Williams has been declared as the winner, while the Livingstone mayoral race looks to be a close call. As of 9.45am on Sunday morning, 79 per cent of the mayoral votes had been counted with Tony Williams in front with 67.88 per cent of the votes.

The polls have closed and at first it appeared the Rockhampton Regional Council mayoral contest could be as easy to call as the Livingstone Shire Council will be hard. However, underdog Brett Williams was nipping at current Rockhampton mayor Tony Williams’ heels not long after voting began. At the polling booth, Tony remained unflappable but not overconfident as he voted and spoke with locals at polling booths, but Brett went largely unseen.
