Reading has regained its popularity among young women thanks to BookTok and the countless high fantasy novels that mix plot with passion. Romance readers can bond over their shared passions in person at the Aces Wild Author and Reader event at the Atlantic City Convention Center on June 13-15. The three-day book signing event, hosted by Cuffed in Chicago, will feature more than 80 romance and erotica authors. “Whether you’re obsessed with spicy scenes or just want to fangirl with friends, ‘Aces Wild’ has your heart covered,” according to a Cuffed in Chicago press release. Romance has always been a popular genre, but we have BookTok to thank for its recent resurgence. The TikTok community has encouraged young women to swap dating apps for romance novels. There’s something to be said for how women-centered literature celebrates female pleasure, prioritizes female perspectives, and destigmatizes erotic fiction. But for the overall dating industry, the female-first literature trend points to a growing group of women who are tired of swiping through apps and going on strings of dead-end dates. They want something that mirrors the epic romances discussed on BookTok. And dating apps, try as they might to innovate, don’t always evoke the same epic feeling as a high fantasy romance novel. Apps and Books Both Spark a Chemical ReactionWhether they’re reading about it in a book, fantasizing about their own lives, or swiping through profiles on a dating app, romance-lovers desire the rush of new love. The problem is, dating apps no longer provide the jolt of adrenaline they once did. Psychology Today’s Isabelle Morley, a licensed clinical psychologist, compared the fervent love for “Bridgerton,” the Netflix and romance novel series, to a drug. “It’s a ride that activates our brain’s pleasure and reward centers, leading to intense joy and satisfaction, thus making us want more,” she explained. This chemical […]

From Manhattan’s crowded city streets to the small quiet towns of Upstate New York, the Empire State is packed with singles looking for love — and trusting all the wrong people in the process. Some good news: Online dating will get a little safer for New Yorkers in February.NY State has introduced legislation that gives dating platforms the right to tell users when someone they’ve matched with has been banned from the app in the past. One bill specifically addresses romance scams and instances of user fraud.“Americans lose billions each year to scams, and dating sites are often used to target those looking to connect,” NY State Senator James Skoufis wrote in his support of the bill. He went on to call it a “common sense bill” that takes the internet’s evolution — and fraudsters’, too — into account. “Having this fuller picture can help New Yorkers make informed decisions about with whom they want to invest their time,” he added. What Is a Romance Scam? The dating world is crawling with scammers who take advantage of the universal desire for love and emotional connection. Online dating offers convenience and anonymity, which makes it ideal for the average adult — and for romance scammers. These scammers hide their identities behind a trustworthy persona, and some even pretend to be well-known celebrities. In a typical romance scam, the scammer takes advantage of the innocent party’s loneliness, naïveté, or desire for connection by playing on their emotions. The scammer not only gains their trust, but their time and energy. By the time the scammer starts asking for money, the innocent party is in too deep to notice red flags — or they’re too ashamed to admit they’ve been had. Romance scammers violate the community guidelines of most dating sites and apps by creating fraudulent accounts and soliciting […]

Human creativity knows no bounds. Someone once thought to shave tree bark down into paper and to turn plants and oils into paint. And as humans are wont to do, we eventually put these two elements together to create paintings, usually of naked (sorry, nude) people in fantastical places and situations. Our innate sexuality has made its way into practically every art form, from sculptures to prints to films to video games. So does it really come as a surprise that sex has infiltrated AI technology? From fantasy to science fiction to general pop culture, Dittin.AI’s diverse chatbot storylines tap into the sexy side of your imagination. The site makes it clear that its AI chats are NSFW, meaning these chats are for adult eyes only. Dittin.AI’s project manager, Chung Ping, told us all about the site’s AI capabilities, its growing user base, and its dedication to providing sexy, fun, and inclusive content. There’s something for everyone on Dittin.AI, regardless of your sexual or gender identity. Best of all, Dittin.AI puts each story’s direction in the hands of the user. “The users we target are originally a very imaginative group,” Ping told us. “They are good at discovering interesting chatbots and creating their own stories.” You’re In Control of Your Own Story Dittin.AI offers thousands of chatbots with their own unique storylines and characters. But if you’re new to creating original AI stories, Dittin.AI has tools in place to help give you some direction. “Basic users can continue to write their stories based on the character and scene description of the chatbot,” Ping told us. The erotic chat topics sound like the plots of your favorite smut — I mean, your favorite high fantasy — novels. In one of the site’s most popular stories, you play the role of someone stuck in an arranged marriage to an […]
