    Digital niche personal lines and SME broker Ceta Insurance grew turnover by 23% in the year parent Atec Group was bought by European private equity investor Perwyn. A filing at Companies House showed Ceta’s turnover broke through the £20m barrier in the year ended 30 September 2024, reaching £20.44m. According to the business, it was a result of continued organic growth across existing and new distribution channels.

    Ageas will keep its focus on growing with brokers, CEO Ant Middle committed, as the Esure takeover creates a “balanced” portfolio with 50% of business still through the broking channel. The £1.3bn purchase from Bain Capital was announced today. “We will end up with a well-balanced business. The combination will create a business that is pretty much 50% focused on brokers and partnerships, and 50% on direct and price comparison websites,” Middle told Insurance Age.

    Brown & Brown (Europe) has bought Irvine Commercial Insurance Brokers in its third deal of the year. The latest purchase sees it snap up the Kenilworth-based broker which specialises in insurance for local SMEs.Founded in the early 2000s by directors John Townsley and Matthew Finch, Irvine Commercial’s range of products includes motor fleet, commercial combined, combined liability and contractors all risks.

    Partners& has restructured its general insurance business creating nine new managing partners roles across the UK. According to the Top 100 UK Broker, the shift has been designed to “position it for future accelerated organic growth”. The new posts sit under the leadership of Ewan MacDonald CEO for the North and Lee Davey CEO for the South. Both MacDonald and Davey were promoted to their current jobs in April last year.

    Ripe has bought boat insurance specialist GJW Direct from Munich Re Specialty. The deal was first announced in October last year. Founded in 1826, GJW Direct’s offering spans yacht, motor boat, narrowboat, jet ski and dinghy insurance. Ripe, which also owns Insure4Boats, previously snapped up specialist boat insurance provider Craftinsure in September 2023 in its first ever acquisition.
