Pybus took up the post on 1 October 2024 having been the with the business in its various guises for many years. He was a co-founder of NPA Insurance which became a Top 50 UK broker with over £30m of gross written premium before selling up to Integro in 2015.

The number of appointed representatives in the general insurance and protection space fell to 7,359 last year as the sector posted the biggest volume drop in the financial services market. It was down by 591 ARs year-on-year. In percentage terms, the 7.4% decline at the end of 2024 was the second biggest measured by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Partners& has bought Glasgow-based Blackford Group and Directors & Professionals, a commercial broker in Tunbridge Wells, in its first deals of 2025. The acquisitions follow on from Partners& making eight in 2024 and were first revealed by M&A specialists Marshberry. Blackford Group brings a 20-strong team to Partners&. The broker was founded in 2019 and provides commercial insurance and cover for high-net worth individuals. It rebranded to Partners& last month.

Rokstone has recruited Lewis Goodearl from Convex as head of its new UK and Ireland casualty division. Supported by A-rated Lloyd’s capacity, Rokstone’s appetite includes employers’ liability, public liability, contractors’ all risk, and property. Goodearl, pictured, will join the managing general agent, part of Aventum Group, once he has served his notice period. He has more than 30 years’ experience specialising in casualty, latterly as senior underwriter for Convex for the last five years.
