A massive blackout hit Chile on Tuesday, affecting 14 of the country’s 16 regions, including the capital Santiago and its surrounding area, the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) said. The outage has led to the suspension of parts of Santiago’s transport network, a soccer match was delayed, and much of the country’s internet is down. President Gabriel Boric has declared a state of emergency in the affected regions to prevent crimes.

For days, they say they were locked inside a hotel in Panama, surrounded by tight security with limited contact with the outside world. Nearly 300 migrants from Asia, all deported by the US, were held there by Panamanian authorities who agreed to take them in and eventually repatriate them. It’s part of the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign, which it has pressured Latin American nations to help with.

Severe thunderstorms and torrential rain have once again battered coastal Spain, causing thousands of people to be evacuated just two weeks after the country experienced deadly flooding in Valencia and other nearby communities. Almost 3,000 people and a thousand homes have been evacuated in the Malaga area, Antonio Sanz, the director of the Emergency Plan for the Risk of Flooding in Andalucia, said Wednesday.
