An ongoing prospective cohort study, the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), was designed to examine socio-demographic, behavioral, and clinical risk factors for several disease outcomes in post-menopausal women. At enrollment, 161,608 post-menopausal women between ages 50 and 79 in the United States were recruited from the general population at 40 clinical recruitment sites between 1993 and 1998 [17, 18].

AbstractCommunity health workers (CHWs) remain an underutilized resource in social risk diagnostics in the primary care setting. This process evaluation study seeks to assess the role of CHWs in social risk screening, referral, and follow-up through process mapping to identify barriers to the process for future quality improvement efforts.

To investigate the microbiome and local immune microenvironment in chronic pelvic pain and differences among patients with and without endometriosis, we designed a pilot study of gynecologic patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery at a single tertiary academic hospital. After institutional review board approval (#1712142464), patients were recruited and enrolled in a gynecologic surgery practice from 02/07/2019 to 11/29/2021.

AbstractOptimal postpartum care promotes healthcare utilization and outcomes. This qualitative study investigated the experiences and perceived needs for postpartum care among women in rural communities in Arizona, United States. We conducted in-depth interviews with thirty childbearing women and analyzed the transcripts using reflexive thematic analysis to gauge their experiences, needs, and factors affecting postpartum healthcare utilization.

The number of unique trap locations ranged from 765 to 932 between the years 2014 and 2017 (Table 1). Two trap-nights of 139,731 total were extremely high outliers, with counts four and six times the next highest trap-night and approximately 150 and 250 standard deviations above the mean. Because these were thought to be related to unusual hatch events, these two observations were removed from all tables and analyses.

They say looks aren't everything, but they're something. Since I was a young girl, I knew this in my gut. I made it to the family party in Nogales, Arizona, in my 18-year-old station wagon on a Sunday afternoon in late 2022. My station wagon never fails me. Separated by the pandemic, I had not seen my family from Mexico in years. During those years apart, I completed a doctoral degree. I knew most of my family did not understand why someone would undergo that four-year process.
