    [Episcopal News Service] East Carolina Bishop Rob Skirving announced Nov. 16 that he intends to step down in 2026, and he called for election of his successor. Skirving, who made the announcement at an online Special Budget Convention and in a letter to the diocese, said he will have served in ordained ministry for 40 years by 2026 and “will be ready to retire by then.” He was elected and consecrated the eight bishop of the Kinston-based diocese in 2014.
