Nearly two years ago to this day, a few of us in the newsroom held a closely guarded secret. Later that day, July 15, 2022, Milwaukee would be chosen as the recommended city to host the 2024 Republican National Convention. Most people in City Hall didn’t know the news yet, but the story was written. All that waited was word from my colleague at the time, Bill Glauber, that the pick was in and the news could post online.
