A peace initiative is inviting the community to participate in a conference dedicated to topics of firearm safety, the impact of gun violence and solutions for violence reduction. The Taking Action for Peace Initiative is a Rotary Tri-District effort in partnership with Henry Ford College. The conference will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 28 at the college’s Dearborn campus, 5101 Evergreen Road. The cost is $35, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

Dearborn-based ACCESS launches EXHALE program

EXHALE was launched in the fall of 2024 and funded by the Boston and the Ralph Wilson foundations. The grant was applied for through the Southeast Community Foundation. Amne Darwish-Talab, Director of Social Services (East), saw a void in the ACCESS system and their service to the community. She assessed a need and immediately got to work. “I was seeing so many clients in the community, and being a part of this community, I saw a lot of caregivers that were burned out,” said Darwish-Talab.
