As an Alaska resident and advocate, I wish to address the restricted public access to the Arctic Ocean via the Dalton Highway. This limitation prevents residents and visitors from experiencing one of Alaska’s most beautiful natural resources — the Arctic shoreline. While I recognize the safety and security concerns near the oil and gas facilities in Prudhoe Bay, I believe a balance can be struck between these operational needs and public access rights.
