    Plattsburgh high school girls' lacrosse was battle-tested in its recent matchup against Ogdensburg Free Academy high school. The Hornets had a 7-4 lead at halftime, but a 4-1 run by the Blue Devils erased that lead by the fourth quarter. A pass by Taylor Pinkerton set up Marissa Lovely for the game-tying goal, evening the odds at 8-8. "Lacrosse is a fast-moving game, so scores go up and down," said Plattsburgh sophomore midfielder Lizzy Burnham.

    Two Section VII high school teams were determined to stay undefeated this spring. Peru High School baseball was one of those squads that executed that goal. The Nighthawks tallied double-digit runs in a high-scoring affair to win 11-8 against Plattsburgh High School. The Nighthawks are now 11-0 on the season. The score was tied at 1-1 early on but a six-run frame by the Nighthawks have them a 7-1 lead after the top of the second inning.

    Crown Point High School softball is searching for its second straight Section VII Class D championship this spring. Outside of earning another sectional banner, the Panthers are playing for something a bit more this season. Kaitlin Ross, the Panthers' star ace pitcher, has played a key role in her team’s recent success over the past few years. She exceeded 200 career strikeouts as a freshman at Crown Point, with those numbers continuing to climb in her junior season on the circle.

    In a high-scoring battle, it was Peru High School softball that won in walk-off fashion. With runners on second and third and one out, Lily Siskavich did what any coach would want their player to do: put the ball in play. She hit a grounder right at shortstop, but Maddie Swyers's speed from third base pressured Ausable Valley High School's Anna Bailey to throw the ball under her catcher's mitt. Swyers slid safely home, leading the 11-10 Peru victory.
