CANTON -- Ben Tondorf and Eamon Haley have been buddies since long before they wound up being varsity teammates. "We grew up playing lacrosse together since we were little kids," Haley said of the bond that developed in their hometown of Scituate. "Most of the kids there play lacrosse. It was how everyone met."These days, Tondorf and Haley are a pair of senior attackmen for South Shore Tech. On Monday, they synced up their milestones.

BRAINTREE ― Wake up the bats. That was the Braintree High baseball team's rallying cry Friday, May 2, and things went according to plan. Two days after being shut out by Natick, the Wamps banged out 10 hits, including a solo home run by Luke Joyce and a pair of run-scoring doubles by Owen Donnelly in a 10-6 win over Bay State Conference rival Milton. Braintree led 3-0, fell behind 4-3, then bunched seven runs into the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to push its season record to 8-3.

The high school softball season is in full swing. Last spring the South Shore was shut out of the state semifinals for the first time since 2021. Still, there was plenty of talent on display as 27 Patriot Ledger/Enterprise teams qualified for the playoffs, with 16 of those winning at least one round. Silver Lake (Division 2), Notre Dame Academy (Div. 2) and Abington (Div. 4) had the deepest runs, all making it to their respective quarterfinals.

Lilly Reale, a rookie for Gotham FC, scored her first professional goal against the North Carolina Courage. Reale, a former UCLA standout, has quickly become a starting player for Gotham FC. Reale's family, including her parents and sister, regularly attend her games, both home and away. There were 10 players bunched into the 6-yard box at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, on April 13. At first it was unclear who had nodded the ball into the net in the 46th minute.

Undefeated Silver Lake Regional High softball team defeats Lincoln-Sudbury 12-0, improving to 7-0. Four-year varsity players Delaney Moquin and Mady Bryan lead the team alongside impressive freshman Megan Arseneau. The Lakers have outscored opponents 86-2 this season and recently defeated Division 1 powerhouses Central Catholic and Lincoln-Sudbury. KINGSTON -- The Old Guard plus the New Wave looks like a winning formula for the Silver Lake Regional High softball team this spring.
