The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has disclosed that excavators and other mining equipment have been seized by some military personnel deployed for anti-galamsey operations in three areas. He mentioned the areas as; Northern Command: Bole and Black Volta Basin, Central Command: Nkawie and Mankranso Forest Reserves and Southern Command: Jerusalem, Subri Forest Reserve. Dr Boamah posted this on his Facebook page on April 14.

A security analyst, Col Festus Aboagye (Rtd) has urged the ranking member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev Ntim Fordjour to substantiate his allegation that two aircraft landed in the country with suspicious cargo in March. According to Col Aboagye, if the Assin South MP wants to be taken seriously, it is incumbent on him to provide evidence of any wrongdoing.

A labour consultant, Austin Gamey, has stated that the existing Labour Act 2003, (Act 651) is comprehensive enough to cater for all the legal requirements for a 24-hour economy. He said all that is needed is to expand LI 1833 to cater for the specifics of how the 24-hour economy will be run.
