DiscussionWe performed an analysis of the FDA MAUDE database for device failures and patient-related adverse events reported with the 2 variceal banding devices commercially available in the United States. There are no head-to-head trials comparing device failures and/or patient-related adverse events between these 2 banding devices, and data in this regard are greatly lacking.
