I won’t bury the lede: Our newest report, the 2024 National Hybrid Schools Survey is out. This report is based on a survey we did of hybrid schools around the country last fall. It’s our third annual survey, so we are starting to see some trends, and we are able to say that we are getting stable results over time.

So-called “microschools” and “hybrid schools” have gained enormous popularity in the past few years. The first Prenda microschool opened in Arizona in 2018, and Prenda has since served nearly 10,000 students.

Last week, EdChoice published some results from their recent survey of teachers. The results are not great (certainly they’re not as positive as our smaller survey of hybrid school teachers in 2022!). According to EdChoice,…teachers expressed more pessimism about the profession, the direction of K-12 education, and challenges facing students than they did when surveyed in the spring, signaling a concerning shift in attitude. We have heard about teachers having negative feelings for some time.
