SPRINGVILLE – Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Located in Springville, the facility opened in October of 1974 on the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital campus. Jennie B. Richmond provides short-term rehabilitation after surgery and illness and long-term care for those who need it. Generations of families have trusted the facility to take care and provide services to their loved ones, while maintaining communication with family, friends and local physicians.

SPRINGVILLE – When it comes to Christmas traditions, the Boshart family has a good one. Since the early 1970’s, they’ve been putting up Christmas decorations at The Children’s League in Springville. The Children’s League offers therapeutic and special education services to children with disabilities and impairments.

SPRINGVILLE – The Hulbert Library of the Town of Concord recently unveiled a new creative cart. The Springville Kiwanis Club donated $250 to the library for supplies for the cart, to be used in the library’s recently opened teen space. The teen space is tucked away in a corner of the library, behind the young adult book section. There’s comfy furniture, a whiteboard, computer access and a fun mural depicting a cow being abducted by aliens.

HAMBURG – The Buffalo Silver Band is planning a concert on Nov. 30 at the Churchill Memorial United Methodist Church on Boston State Road in Hamburg. Featuring special guest Springville-Griffith Institute Superintendent James Bialasik narrating a musical arrangement of “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” the Buffalo Silver Band promises holiday tunes with a special twist.

SPRINGVILLE – The Concord Town Board, at its Nov. 14 meeting, again heard from members of the Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail. The ECRT received a grant through the Environmental Protection Fund to conduct an assessment of the integrity of the Cascade Bridge, which spans Cattaraugus Creek between the towns of Concord and Ashford. SPRINGVILLE – On Nov. 7, the S-GI eighth grade class took a trip to Shuttleworth Park in Springville for a ceremony honoring local veterans. One way we help is by sending our Mobile Market to local veteran centers and Fairchild Air Force Base. The “we” in this case includes food donors, fund donors and especially volunteers.

The Springville girl’s junior varsity soccer team finished the season strong, with two wins, a loss and a tie in the final weeks of competition. After a 7-0 win over Mount Mercy and a setback against a tough Frontier team, the girls had back to back games against division rival Alden. The Home Energy Assistance Program is a federally funded program, which is administered by New York State to assist families with their energy needs. The HEAP Regular (Heating) benefit component is scheduled to open on Nov. 1, 2024, for the 2024-25 season.
