I used to set giant goals for summer only to be disappointed and stressed when late August rolled around and I had hardly accomplished any. I also noticed I wasn’t the only one doing this. In May, graduate students would tell me of their plan to write hundreds of pages on their book-length thesis projects. Come fall, they would sheepishly admit that they'd made virtually no progress on their thesis. I’ve heard many similar stories from friends and colleagues in various roles within education.

Stouts across the country and globe took home gold medals at this year's World Beer Cup. gettyThe dark side is striking back in the beer world. Stouts are having a moment and seeing rapid growth after years of being outshone by brighter or hoppier IPAs, pilsners and lagers. This surge in sales is being led by the world’s most popular stout, Guinness. Thanks, in part, to the “splitting the G” social media trend, Guinness sales globally have surged.

Researchers at the University of San Diego have conducted what they say is the most rigorous Turing test of AI models to date and found it was nearly impossible for participants to distinguish humans from AI models in short conversations. I love summer drinking. There's no better time of year to sit out on your back porch or by your favorite body of water and try and sip in enough good vibes to store up all winter. Connecticut produces many great spirits, beers, wine and cocktails that are perfect for summer drinking. Here are some of my favorites. Coolship Lager, OEC Brewing Coolship Lager made by OEC Brewing in Oxford is popular with beer connoisseurs in and beyond Connecticut.

The Verdict, the rooftop bar at the new Abner Hotel in Litchfield, has as much immediate wow factor as any bar or restaurant space I've been to in Connecticut. As soon as you step out of the elevator through the door onto the rooftop area, you're overwhelmed with sleek summer drinking vibes and wonderful views of the Litchfield Hills. This beautiful bar is the centerpiece of the dining options at The Abner Hotel, but it's not the only reason to come here to eat and drink.
