PLATTSBURGH — Sometimes it’s simply not how you win, it’s just that you win. For the Peru Nighthawks, it was simply to survive and advance in a 12-8 NYSPHSAA Class A Regional Semifinal against Franklin Academy, Monday. The Nighthawks were leading 4-3 with the game potentially getting out of hand. However, Peru’s Donnie Mitchell had other plans.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This artcile is a continuation of a look at Unified Basketball an article about a unified game in Moriah, in the May 5 edition of the Press-Republican. In sports, there tends to be a winner and a loser. A victor and the defeated. In unified basketball, that doesn’t exist. AdvertisementOver the past two years, I’ve visited schools for Assembly. From Peru to Saranac and AuSable Valley to Beekmantown, these days bring moments that if you’re not smiling, something’s wrong.
