A boil-water notice in Copperas Cove has been rescinded for properties on the 1000-1100 blocks of Randa Street, the 1500-1700 blocks of Pleasant Lane, and all of Brown, Carlton and Deorsam Drives, city officials said in a release. Due to pressure loss from a water main break on South Farm-to-Market Road 116 on Dec. 19, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Copperas Cove to notify affected customers to boil their water prior to consumption until further notice.

An intimate gathering of about 60 people paid their respects to deceased veterans at the Killeen City Cemetery on Wreaths Across America Day Saturday. Wreaths Across America presented seven wreaths made from real trees representing the U.S. Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force, as well as the merchant marines and missing prisoners of war. The 80th Colonel of the Third Counter Regiment, Jeffery Barga, was the guest speaker.

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the Killeen-Fort Cavazos area has increased slightly from a week ago, according to AAA. In the area, the average price was $2.49 on Saturday, which is 1 cent more expensive than last week’s average and 10 cents cheaper than it was this time last year, according to AAA. Coryell County Judge Roger Miller signed and issued a burn ban for Coryell County Wednesday prohibiting outdoor burning in the unincorporated area of the county. The ban was signed after the mean value of the Keetch-Byram Drought Index in Coryell County reached 625 on Monday, witch is severe drought, according to the ban notice. The ban comes into effect Thursday for a period of seven days and may be extended by the Coryell County Commissioners Court for up to 90 days.

Late last week, the Newsom administration released proposed amendments to the climate emissions disclosure and climate-related financial risk reporting laws enacted last year and discussed in our October 3, 2023 and October 10, 2023 Advisories. While the amendments remain subject to further negotiation and are not yet agreed, they signal the Newsom administration’s current position and its seriousness about addressing key concerns with the laws as enacted.
