DIRECTED BY: TODD PHILLIPS/2024It is opening weekend for the long-awaited sequel to Joker, and already it is the most divisive film of 2024. Even more so than Francis Ford Coppola’s long gestating dream project, Megalopolis. Is this because there are so many expectations following the very successful 2019 film, Joker, and the 5 years fans have had to speculate how this would eventually develop into the origin story of the Joker character who will one day take on Batman?

DIRECTED BY: JON WATTS/2024After finding mega-success with directing Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home for Marvel, Jon Watts writes and directs a much smaller film for AppleTV+ titled Wolfs. The mispelling is intentional as the two main protagonists aren’t wolves plural….but a couple of lone wolfs who happen to be brought together.

Megalopolis is Francis Ford Coppola’s definitive statement on his hope for the future, along with a warning of where we are currently at. It is also perhaps his boldest film to date. DIRECTED BY: FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA/2024Megalopolis. Francis Ford Coppola’s magnum opus that is over 4 decades in the making is finally hitting theaters this weekend. With its debut, there is much discussion of what has transpired off-screen as much as it has been discussed of what made its way on to the screen.

DIRECTED BY: JOSH COOLEY/2024Before they were leaders of the Autobots and Decepticons. Before they were known as Optimus Prime and Megatron. Before their planet was destroyed. Before all we have seen in the live-action Michael Bay films there were two friends named Orion Pax and D-16. Transformers One is their origin story, and an animated soft reboot of the Transformers franchise…one this series desperately needed.

DIRECTED BY: TIM BURTON/202436 years after we last left the ghost with the most, Beetlejuice re-emerges from the underworld with an all new scheme to free himself from the shackles of death. While this sequel promises opportunities for nostalgia for those who loved the 1980’s classic film Beetlejuice, this latest installment is strongest when it embraces the modern story it is telling and gives itself over fully to fantastic ensemble cast that appears in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Sad that @SenTedCruz @JohnCornyn and @RepTroyNehls are just rubber stamps for @realDonaldTrump cutting PEPFAR and USAID which represents less than .01% of the federal budget but does so much good.

So @JeffBezos and @amazon totally caved. You could have provided consumers a helpful tool to see how tariffs affect prices but @realDonaldTrump threatened you and you backed down. Rethinking my relationship with Amazon right now. #Resist

Courts don’t do foreign policy, correct. Courts do decide if that policy violates the constitution and serves as a check and balance for the executive branch. Due process is a right even Scalia said is afforded non-citizens inside the US. So do the right thing!

The foreign policy of the United States is conducted by @POTUS — not by a court — and no court in the United States has a right to conduct the foreign policy of the United States. It's that simple. End of story. https://t.co/POwSlWT7Du
