Right now on Kickstarter, the indie documentary, Roots, Rock, Reggae, Souls is close to reaching its crowdsourcing goal. The project promises to shed light on Jamaican and reggae culture. Many people have a stereotypical view of Jamaican culture, especially regarding the country’s musical history. Jessica Saw, the director of the film, seeks to “showcase another side of Jamaica’s musical scene beyond the expected reggae and dancehall,” as stated on the Kickstarter. Shaw is not new to storytelling.

Starting October. 4th, Japan’s largest publisher, Kodansha will encourage manga lovers and fans to experience their month-long pop-up experience in New York City. Fans can expect to meet the creative teams behind their favorite manga such as Akira, Sailor Moon, Attack on Titan, and Blue Lock. The experience is titled: Kodansha House: Where Manga Meets. Festivities will be held at 45 Grand Street (SoHo).
